Day trading
Establishing and liquidating the same position within one day trading.

Dealer
Individual or firm that buys a security for its own account and risk or sells from its own account (acts as a principal).

Declaration date
The date on which a directors’ board announce the date and amount of the next dividend.

Delivery
An action by which an underlying commodity, security or cash value is passed to the futures contract buyer after the futures is completed.

Deutsche Akzien Index (DAX 100)
German stock index that was introduced in 1988. The index is calculated as an average rate of 100 German stocks – blue-chip stocks, quoted in Berlin Stock Exchange.

Devaluation
A deliberate downward adjustment to a country's official exchange rate relative to other currencies.

Diversification
Dividing investment funds among a variety of securities with different risk, reward, and correlation statistics so as to minimize risk and avoid losses.

Dividend
A portion of a company's profit paid to common and preferred shareholders.

Dollar
The currency of the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It is equal to 100 cent.

Dow Jones Averages (DJA)
A price-weighted average of actively traded stocks, quoted in NYSE in the leading US companies. The indicator is released by "Dow Jones & Company" and represents an arithmetic mean of daily quotations at the moment of the stock exchange close. There are Dow Jones indices for communal, industrial and transport companies. Dow Jones index reflects the reaction of American business community to the various economic and political events.
