How to track a server?

Each time when You authorize in the system it is necessary to enter your login and password and to select a server for authorization. As rule the company’s servers are very reliable and if past experience is anything to go by they go out of service very rarely.

In case You have some difficulties with connection the first recommendation is to get in touch with the customer service of Alpari by telephone number +7 (495) 7107676. Besides there is a number of network commands that can clear up the causes of connectivity problems.

The trading platform MetaTrader 4 works with a number of servers (the list of servers).

In order to determine the problem more precisely it is necessary to troubleshoot connectivity from your computer. With Windows you have to follow these steps:

1. Click «Start»
2. Click «Run...»
3. Type «cmd» and press the Enter key
4. You can type a network command in the appeared command prompt of OS Windows

Network commands:

Command Tracert - allows to trace the path of the request and to reveal at what point of the route there are communications problems. The format of the command output is a table where each line is a point of the route. The first line in the table is always your gateway address and the next lines are interim steps up to the destination server. To perform the command tracert type without quotes «tracert 217.74.44.23» (the address of the verified server should be typed after a single space after tracert ) in the command prompt window and press the "Enter" key.

Command Telnet - allows to know if it is possible to connect with the remote server using a specific network port. Verification of a server’s accessibility using network port 443. To perform the command telnet type without quotes «telnet server port», for example , «telnet 217.74.44.23 443» (the address of the verified server and the number of the port should be typed after a single space after telnet) in the command prompt window and press the "Enter" key. Wait for one of two possible results: either an empty screen with a blinking cursor or the following message: "Connecting 217.74.44.23...Unable to connect this host to the port 443: Connection failed".

Attention! Type the address of the server the access to which you verify (the list of servers). If needed, report the result to the support service.

The results of the connectivity troubleshooting can be pasted in any text documents. For this click the right button of the mouse at any place of the prompt command window, choose "Select all" in the appeared menu and press "Enter", open any text redactor to paste the selected with the help of the key combination "Ctrl" + "V"

Important! The speed and possibility of work with any other sites and servers don’t allow to make a unambiguous conclusion about malfunction of our server as the route of data communication may differ.
